The Cairo Pilots are on the road again on Thursday and plays the Paducah Tilghman Blue Tornado at 6:00 p.m. on February 8th. Cairo will be strutting in after a win while Paducah Tilghman will be coming in after a loss.
Last Monday, everything went Cairo's way against Cobden as Cairo made off with a 70-47 win.
Cairo got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Shanti Taylor out in front who scored 19 points. Taylor is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 19 or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sa'Layah Purdiman, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, Paducah Tilghman's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 11th straight loss. They were outmatched by McCracken County on the road and fell 77-30. While losing is never fun, Paducah Tilghman can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 206th, while McCracken County is ranked 13th).
Cairo is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-17 record this season. As for Paducah Tilghman, they dropped their record down to 3-17 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road.
Cairo skirted past Paducah Tilghman 71-69 in their previous meeting last Monday. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cairo since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
