Harrison extended their winning streak to nine on Friday, bumping their season record up to 9-0 in the process. Everything went their way against the Mason Comets as they made off with a 12-5 win. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.
Cam Enneking made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Enneking was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Seth Green was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run and three runs. Another player making a difference was Jack Geers, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Harrison was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mason only posted a batting average of .200.
As for Mason, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 18-6. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 2.75 runs.
On Mason's side, they got a good showing from Brody Countryman, who pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Countryman has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Cade Landheer and JJ Darst stepped up to the plate in a big way. Landheer got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one run, while Darst went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Landheer has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Brant Fisher also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Harrison and Mason should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Wildcats (ranked 64th) will meet Winton Woods (ranked 627th) at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Harrison's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while the Warriors have been banged up by 11 consecutive losses on the road. Meanwhile, Mason will face off against West Clermont at 5:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (25 vs. 200).
