The Sandalwood Saints had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They snuck past Fernandina Beach with a 45-39 victory on Friday.
Sandalwood's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaden Toure, who scored 15 points. Antonio Hodges was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Fernandina Beach lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Chase Landtroop, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Aronowitz, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Fernandina Beach struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Sandalwood's win bumped their record up to 7-14. As for Fernandina Beach, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-10.
Sandalwood will take on Mandarin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sandalwood will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 471st, while Mandarin is ranked 227th). As for Fernandina Beach, they will be playing at home against Yulee at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Yulee will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Fernandina Beach surely won't give up without a fight.
