The Staunton Storm will be playing at home against the Amherst County Lancers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Staunton pushed their score all the way to 70 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 71-70 to Harrisonburg.
Meanwhile, Amherst County had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They skirted past Nelson County 40-37.
Amherst County relied on the efforts of Holt Bresach, who scored 14 points, and Franklin Moore, who scored 12 points along with 6 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Devonta Wade, who scored 4 points along with 3 steals.
Staunton's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Amherst County, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Staunton didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Amherst County in their previous meeting back in December of 2015, but they still walked away with a 67-61 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Amherst County's TC Thacker, who scored 19 points along with 5 rebounds.
