Meanwhile, Leake Academy put the finishing touches on their 19th blowout victory of the season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 72-34 win over Wayne Academy at home. The win was familiar territory for Leake Academy who now have three in a row.
Leake Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Katye Jones, who scored 13 points along with three steals. Jones has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Marleigh Myers, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Simpson Academy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season. As for Leake Academy, their win bumped their record up to 23-4.
