North Moore is 7-2 against Chatham Central since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The North Moore Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Chatham Central Bears at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (North Moore has five straight victories, Chatham Central has 15 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Even though Cummings scored an imposing 33 points on Monday, North Moore still came out on top. North Moore sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 36-33 win over Cummings.
Jakarey Gillis had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 206 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.8 yards per carry. Gillis was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 60 yards. Another player making a difference was Kolby Ritchie, who gained 97 total yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Chatham Central had to suffer through a rough 55-6 loss at the hands of Northwood. Chatham Central was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-6.
North Moore's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-8 Graham and 1-8 Jordan-Matthews (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 33.3% over those games). As for Chatham Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.
Everything came up roses for North Moore against Chatham Central in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 49-6 victory. Will North Moore repeat their success, or does Chatham Central have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
