Lytle is 9-1 against Dilley since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Pirates will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wolves at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lytle has three straight wins, Dilley has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Lytle had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 21-run drubbing they dealt Cotulla on Tuesday. The Pirates blew past the Cowboys 22-1.

Jair Flores and Weston Jackson made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Flores tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Jackson struck out seven batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Flores also tossed no walks, which is notable because Lytle is 7-3 when he allows at most one walk, but 7-8 otherwise. At the plate, Flores went 1-for-3 with three RBI, while Jackson scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4. That's the most stolen bases Jackson has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Toby Davila was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Lytle is undefeated when Davila posts two or more stolen bases, but 8-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Damien Barco, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Lytle kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cotulla only managed five hits.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Dilley's offense. They lost 8-0 to Hondo on Tuesday.
Lytle's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-11. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Dilley, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.
Everything went Lytle's way against Dilley in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as Lytle made off with a 22-0 victory. Do the Pirates have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
