The Haskell Haymakers will head out on the road to face off against the Gore Pirates at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Thursday, Haskell took a serious blow against Pocola, falling 60-16. Haskell was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-8.
Despite the defeat, Haskell had strong showings from Dylan Ozinga, who rushed for 102 yards on only 13 carries, and Lucas King, who picked up 95 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Gore was the victim of a tough 28-8 loss at the hands of Panama on Thursday. Gore has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Haskell's loss was their fifth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-0 Central and 14-1 Gore (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 68.7% over those games). As for Gore, their loss dropped their record down to 6-2.
Haskell took a serious blow against Gore in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, falling 51-0. Can Haskell avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
