Scituate took a 30-19 hit to the loss column at the hands of Smithfield on Friday. Scituate has struggled against Smithfield recently, as their contest on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Spartans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Travis Howman, who picked up 68 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Scituate's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 9.8 points per game. As for Smithfield, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
