The Branford Buccaneers will head out on the road to face off against the Bishop McLaughlin Catholic Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Branford will be strutting in after a victory while Bishop McLaughlin Catholic will be coming in after a loss.
Last Friday, Branford never let their opponents score. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 35-0 victory over Hollis Christian Academy. The result was nothing new for Branford, who have now won three matchups by 35 points or more so far this season.
Branford's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trevor Maddox, who rushed for 65 yards and a touchdown, and also caught a touchdown. Austin Malaguti was in the mix too, providing Branford with two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Bishop McLaughlin Catholic's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against St. Petersburg Catholic, falling 32-0.
The win makes it two in a row for Branford and bumps their season record up to 5-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-6 Hollis Christian Academy (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 32.1% over those games). As for Bishop McLaughlin Catholic, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.
