Given Covenant Day's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Asheville Christian Academy is ranked 111th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Covenant Day to victory were Tyree White and Chris Rivens. White scored seven points along with eight rebounds and seven assists, while Rivens scored 12 points. Michael Marcus Jr. was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven rebounds.
Covenant Day is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Asheville Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-6.
Covenant Day will head out on the road to face off against Cannon at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Asheville Christian Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Asheville School (Independent) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Asheville School (Independent) is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
