The Alisal Trojans will take on the North Salinas Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Alisal is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last nine games.
On Monday, Alisal made easy work of Carmel and carried off a 7-1 victory. Considering the Trojans have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Nevaeh Lopez made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Aubrey Jones was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Brooklyn Smith was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, North Salinas didn't have quite enough to beat Carmel on Tuesday and fell 2-1. That's two games in a row now that the Vikings have lost by just one run.
Like Alisal, North Salinas also got a great game from a two-way player: Iliana Perez. On the mound, she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Perez was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one run.
Perez wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Audri Palmer, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Alisal's win bumped their record up to 13-4. As for North Salinas, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-8.
Alisal beat North Salinas 3-0 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
