The East Mecklenburg Eagles fell victim to the Charlotte Catholic Cougars''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were beaten by the Cougars 42-0. While losing is never fun, East Mecklenburg can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 315th, while Charlotte Catholic is ranked 42nd).
James Bailey threw for 67 yards on six of 12 attempts. Lamarion Blakeney was his top target, picking up 55 receiving yards and no touchdowns. On the ground, Marquis Byrd rushed for 40 yards.

East Mecklenburg are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 0.0 points per game. As for Charlotte Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
East Mecklenburg will be playing in front of their home fans against Providence at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Providence will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last. Charlotte Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
