The Evangelical Christian Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the St. George's Gryphons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Evangelical Christian is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Evangelical Christian took a serious blow against University School of Jackson, falling 49-14.
Evangelical Christian's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Emmanuel Moss, who rushed for 75 yards and a touchdown, and William Cheairs who picked up 126 receiving yards and a touchdown. Cheairs' longest reception was for an incredible 70 yards.
Meanwhile, St. George's' recent rough patch got a bit rougher two weeks ago after their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 56-13 loss at the hands of Northpoint Christian. While losing is never fun, St. George's can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 268th in Tennessee, while Northpoint Christian is ranked 70th in Mississippi).
The losses dropped Evangelical Christian to 3-5 and St. George's to 1-7.
Evangelical Christian skirted past St. George's 10-7 in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Evangelical Christian since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
