Madison has been on the road for two straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the University City Centurions at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Madison suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They were dealt a 87-59 defeat at the hands of Cathedral Catholic. While losing is never fun, Madison can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 564th, while Cathedral Catholic is ranked 114th).
Despite the defeat, Madison saw an underclassman step up: Caleb Gleason scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Gleason posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Jorge Luque, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, University City was able to grind out a solid victory over Lincoln on Friday, taking the game 62-53. The victory made it back-to-back wins for University City.
Madison has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season. As for University City, they pushed their record up to 15-7 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
Madison didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against University City when the teams last played back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 67-63 win. Will Madison repeat their success, or does University City have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
