This season hasn't been kind to the Batesburg-Leesville Panthers, who are still winless after their tenth matchup. They were beaten by Ridge Spring-Monetta 64-34 on Tuesday. Batesburg-Leesville lost against Ridge Spring-Monetta in their previous head to head on December 1st, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 59-32 score last time.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ridge Spring-Monetta to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kennedy Ligons, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Ligons has scored at least 25% of Ridge Spring-Monetta's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylah Leaphart, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds.
Batesburg-Leesville bumped their record down to 0-10 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Ridge Spring-Monetta, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-6 record this season.
Batesburg-Leesville will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Horse Creek Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Ridge Spring-Monetta will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Hunter-Kinard-Tyler at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
