Meanwhile, Laurel Highlands won against Ringgold on Wednesday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Mustangs' pitcher stepped up to hand Oakland Catholic a 10-0 shutout. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.
Not much got past Payton Senge, who gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks to keep Oakland Catholic off the board. With that strong performance, Senge is now averaging an impressive 5.5 strikeouts per game.
On the hitting side, Laurel Highlands let Kayla Howell and Aubrey Speelman run wild. Howell went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double, while Speelman went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Harlie Dirda, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Elizabeth Forward pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Laurel Highlands, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.
