The Wallace Wildcats suffered their biggest loss since December 7, 2023 on Thursday. They suffered a tough 62-42 loss at the hands of South Platte. Wallace was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as South Platte apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Despite the defeat, Wallace had strong showings from Mariana Aceves-Lopez, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals, and Kaley Sauser, who scored 11 points along with eight steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Aceves-Lopez has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley Robertson, who scored two points along with four steals.
Isabelle Reichman continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for South Platte, scoring 21 points along with four steals. Reichman has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Madison Cheleen was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven assists and six rebounds.
Wallace has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for South Platte, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-3.
Wallace won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Paxton at 4:30 p.m. on January 12th. Hopefully Paxton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Friday. South Platte will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Garden County at 4:00 p.m. on January 25th.
