Baseball Recap: Patrick Henry Comes Up Short

After flying high against Holston on Monday, Patrick Henry came back down to earth. The Rebels lost 13-5 to the John Battle Trojans on Saturday.

Carter Brown was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Patrick Henry is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 2-6 otherwise. Brown was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other batting news, Hank Rutherford made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That double was his first of the season. Connor Brown was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.

Patrick Henry has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for John Battle, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Patrick Henry will take on Honaker at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for John Battle, they will face off against Ridgeview at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
