Sherwood extended the longest winning streak in 5A Northwest Oregon this week by beating Parkrose, 77-0. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
Wilsonville was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after topping Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts. The Wildcats came in at 23 in the state poll after placing at number 34 last week.
St. Helens's dynamic duo of Gage Bumgardner and Tanner Long proved tough for Sandy to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Bumgardner threw for 64 yards and Long had 53 yards receiving. Devon Jewett helped St. Helens' passing attack out by catching one ball for six yards.
Tanner Shipley was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 202 yards on 29 carries as Wilsonville lost to the Pioneers. Ryan Walsh also contributed to the rushing game with 84 yards on the ground.
5-foot-10 quarterback Johnathan Boland of the Broncos is the league leader in passing yards this season with 618. He has also thrown six touchdowns. On the ground, Adam Guenther's team's Shipley has rushed for 912 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Long. The St. Helens star has 22 catches for 286 yards.
The marquee game in 5A Northwest Oregon this week will be the clash between Sherwood and the Wildcats. Greg Lawrence's team comes into the matchup ranked seventh in the state, while Wilsonville ranks 23rd.
The Wildcats' Shipley needs only 88 yards against the Bowmen next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
There should be lots of points scored when Sherwood and Wilsonville face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Bowmen comes in having scored 309 this season, while the Wildcats have scored 253. Sherwood scored 77 points last week as it defeated Parkrose.
