The Becker Bulldogs lost to the St. Francis Fighting Saints back in March, but the Becker Bulldogs didn't allow the St. Francis Fighting Saints the same satisfaction on Thursday. Becker blew past St. Francis 72-51. Given Becker's advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while St. Francis is ranked 240th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Becker to victory, but perhaps none more so than Josh Groskreutz, who scored 15 points along with three steals. The matchup was Groskreutz's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Connor Gass, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Becker and bumps their season record up to 4-1. As for St. Francis, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
Becker will head out on the road to face off against North Branch at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Branch has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 302 points over their last four matches. St. Francis will be home for the holidays to greet Cloquet at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Cloquet is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
