The Horizon Hawks pushed their score all the way to 56 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 63-56 to University. While losing is never fun, Horizon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 504th, while University is ranked 55th).
When it comes to explaining why Horizon lost, one person who can't be blamed is Adonys Christo. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten assists. Diego Rojas was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds.
Horizon has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season. As for University, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Horizon will challenge Lake Mary Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. University's road trip will continue as they head out to face East River at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd.
