The Willcox Cowboys scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past Santa Rita 77-39 at home. The win was a breath of fresh air for Willcox as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
It was another big night for Lane Whetten, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 24 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Kauffman, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Santa Rita lost, one person who can't be blamed is Fabian Noperi JR. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points. Noperi JR is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last three games he's played.
Willcox's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-18. As for Santa Rita, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-17.
