The Southridge Suns will head out to take on the Kennewick Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southridge has given up an average of 6.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Southridge had taken Hermiston down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. The Suns lost 20-4 to the Bulldogs. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Suns have suffered against the Bulldogs since March 29, 2022.
Jadyn Holdren was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Faith Hickman, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.
Meanwhile, Kennewick never let their opponents score on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over Pasco. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.
Arianna Ames looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Kennewick got a massive performance out of Addison Fielder, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave Fielder a new career-high. Alayna Goodnight also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Kennewick always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive games.
Southridge's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-3. As for Kennewick, their record is now 5-7.
Everything went Southridge's way against Kennewick in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Southridge made off with a 12-5 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Suns since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
