The Hanahan Hawks lost against the Berkeley Stags back in December of 2017, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Hanahan fell 37-27 to Berkeley. Hanahan has not had much luck with Berkeley recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Hanahan's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaylah Hughes, who scored nine points along with six rebounds. Hughes scored a full 33.3% of Hanahan's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Hanahan's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Berkeley, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hanahan will square off against Academic Magnet at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Berkeley's road trip will continue as they head out to face Lucy Beckham at 6:00 p.m. on December 13th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (Lucy Beckham is ranked 39th, while Berkeley is ranked 30th).
