Elysian Fields is 0-3 against New Boston since May of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Yellowjackets will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Lions at 11:00 a.m. Elysian Fields will be strutting in after a victory while New Boston will be coming in after a loss.
Elysian Fields' pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Winona as they made off with a 32-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Yellowjackets.
Madi Owens and Harper Day made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Owens pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Day tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Owens went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles, while Day went 1-for-4 with three runs and one RBI. That's the most doubles Owens has posted since back in March of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kirsten Commander, who went 3-for-4 with six RBI, four runs, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevaeh Yates, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
New Boston kicked off their season on the road on Saturday and hit a couple of potholes. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Rivercrest.
Like Elysian Fields, New Boston also got a great game from a two-way player: Karly Vallejos. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Vallejos was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Vallejos wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Haven Ballard, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.
Elysian Fields came up short against New Boston in their previous meeting back in February of 2025, falling 15-12. Can the Yellowjackets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
