The Waverly Wolverines will head out on the road to take on the Chenango Valley Warriors at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Waverly's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 15 matches.
Waverly can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent contest on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Owego Free Academy as Waverly made off with a 67-41 win.
Meanwhile, Chenango Valley's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They fell 47-35 to Chenango Forks. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Chenango Valley in their matchups with Chenango Forks: they've now lost five in a row.
Waverly's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.8 points per game. As for Chenango Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Waverly against Chenango Valley in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 86-59 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Waverly since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
