The Mitchell Mustangs lost against the River Ridge Royal Knights back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Mitchell lost to River Ridge on the road by a decisive 58-41 margin. While losing is never fun, Mitchell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while River Ridge is ranked 37th).
Despite the loss, Mitchell still got an impressive performance from Priya Jacob, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Jacob is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 14 games she's played.
Mitchell's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for River Ridge, their victory was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-3.
Mitchell will take on Seven Rivers Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for River Ridge, they will head out on the road to square off against Fivay at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Fivay will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
