The Lansing Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their eighth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 44-29 to Blue Valley Southwest. While losing is never fun, Lansing can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 257th, while Blue Valley Southwest is ranked 106th).
Blue Valley Southwest can attribute much of their success to Karter Skillman, who scored six points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Mia Hansen, who scored nine points.
Lansing's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Blue Valley Southwest, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lansing will face off against Leavenworth on Monday. Leavenworth has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. Blue Valley Southwest's road trip will continue as they head out to face Spring Hill at 5:00 p.m. on January 27th.
