Hidden Valley hasn't had much luck against Blacksburg recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Titans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bruins at 5:00 p.m. Blacksburg took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Hidden Valley, who comes in off a win.
11 must be Hidden Valley's lucky number: they beat Patrick Henry with that score not once but twice on Wednesday. The Titans beat the Patriots by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-5. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won four games by six runs or more so far this season.
ASHTON WOODSON made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on BAILEY HALL, who went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was CARLIE PLUNKETT, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Blacksburg and Cave Spring have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Thursday. The Bruins came up short against the Knights, falling 11-1.
Blacksburg saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madelyn Williams, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Hidden Valley's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-5. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Blacksburg, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-4.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Hidden Valley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .389. However, it's not like Blacksburg struggles in that department as they've averaged .353. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hidden Valley couldn't quite get it done against Blacksburg when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 13-9. Can the Titans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
