Cahokia has been on the road for three straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Springfield Senators at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Cahokia focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Monday.
Last Monday, Cahokia suffered a rough 80-54 defeat at the hands of Lanphier. While losing is never fun, Cahokia can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 487th, while Lanphier is ranked 170th).
Despite the loss, Cahokia saw an underclassman step up: Corrion Raiford scored 20 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. It was the first time this season that Raiford posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Keontae Morris, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Springfield has not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They walked away with a 57-48 victory over Mattoon on Saturday.
Cahokia dropped their record down to 1-23 with that defeat, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Springfield, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-18.
Cahokia came up short against Springfield when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 82-72. Will Cahokia have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
