Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Franklin Indians walked away with it. They claimed a resounding 49-0 win over Poly on the road. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Franklin just coasted through the last quarter.
Franklin got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Dre Harper out in front who threw for 111 yards and two touchdowns on only seven passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another big playmaker for Franklin was Anthony Gibson, who returned a punt for a touchdown.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Franklin's defense and their four sacks. Poly's QB won't forget Bryce Allen anytime soon given Allen sacked him twice.
The win was the third in a row for Franklin, bringing their record for this year to 5-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.7 points per game. As for Poly, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
Franklin will take on Edgewood at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Edgewood is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Poly does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
