If the Southside Seahawks were riding high off their 63-38 takedown of the Lejeune Devil Pups last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Southside fell 46-35 to Pamlico County on Friday. Southside was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Pamlico County apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Southside lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being I'Kiriyah Minor, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Indiah Moore, who scored 13 points.
Pamlico County found their leader in underclassman Sydney Whitley-Reese, who scored 19 points along with nine steals and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Madison Anderson, who scored two points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Southside's loss dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Pamlico County, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-10 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southside will challenge Northside - Pinetown at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pamlico County will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Lejeune at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. Lejeune has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
