Softball Recap: Northwest Christian Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

Northwest Christian was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Payson on Friday. The Crusaders blew past the Longhorns 15-5. Considering the Crusaders have won 11 matchups by more than eight runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Kinsey Unger, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and three doubles. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Mia Angus was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Northwest Christian is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.5 runs over those games. As for Payson, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northwest Christian will host Scottsdale Christian Academy at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Crusaders surely won't give up without a fight. As for Payson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bourgade Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Longhorns' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Golden Eagles have averaged an impressive 10.7 runs per game this season.
