Carrollwood Day is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Gulliver Prep is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Carrollwood Day Patriots will take on the Gulliver Prep Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Carrollwood Day took their game at home with ease, bagging a 63-19 win over Cambridge Christian. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-6.
Carrollwood Day's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anthony Carrie, who rushed for 123 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, and also caught a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Jordan Magwood , who threw for 185 yards and four touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes.
Meanwhile, Gulliver Prep got themselves on the board against South Miami on Friday, but South Miami never followed suit. They breezed by the Cobras on the road to the tune of 44-0. Given Gulliver Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while South Miami is ranked 460th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Gulliver Prep found their leader in underclassman Brendan Beery, who threw for 137 yards and two touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes. Roderick Boynton ii got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Their wins bumped Carrollwood Day to 6-1 and Gulliver Prep to 7-2.
