The Liberty Raiders will face off against the Wyoming East Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Liberty is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Liberty's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over Summers County. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Raiders considering their one-run performance the match before.
Maddie Cox made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That hit marked the first that she allowed this season. She was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alyssa Scarbro, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-2. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Stella Brown, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Liberty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .714. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Wyoming East suffered their closest loss since April 16, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Woodrow Wilson by a score of 10-8. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Flying Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Carlee Rollins and Kaydee Shrewsbury stepped up to the plate in a big way. Rollins scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4, while Shrewsbury scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Liberty now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Wyoming East, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
Wyoming East's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Liberty hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .350. It's a different story for Wyoming East, though, as they've only averaged .237. Will they be able to contain Liberty's hitters?
Everything went Liberty's way against Wyoming East in their previous matchup back in March, as Liberty made off with a 19-13 win. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
