North Central I recap November 5, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in North Central I this week, Middletown beat Clear Lake 38-6. The victory was the eighth in a row for the Mustangs.
Cloverdale moved up to 836 from 874 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Eagles were able to move up by beating Fort Bragg 42-27.
St. Helena's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jack Preston threw for 83 and 2 touchdowns and Davon Browne had 45 yards receiving. On the ground Sebastian Segura chipped in 191 yards. Gatlin Blakeley helped St. Helena's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 32 yards.
Segura was a passing and rushing force as the Saints defeated Willits. Segura's favorite target this week was Browne, who caught 2 passes for 45 yards.
Preston put up the best numbers through the air as St. Helena bested the Wolverines.
St. Helena's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Saints feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Preston has thrown for 819 yards and 6 touchdowns this season, while Blakeley has 30 catches for 516 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Brandon Farrell's team takes on Cloverdale. At the moment, the Saints are in second, while Rick Berry's team is in sixth.
The Eagles made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 11,782 from 12,387. The improvement was the result of a 42-27 victory over the Timberwolves last week.
