After losing to the Cass Colonels the last time they met, the Cartersville Hurricanes decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Cartersville slipped by Cass 45-44 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Cartersville.
Cartersville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but DJ Cain led the charge by scoring six points along with 20 rebounds and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Kaden Baldwin, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Cartersville is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-9 record this season. As for Cass, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cartersville won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Gilmer at 2:30 p.m. on January 13th. Gilmer presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Cartersville in Georgia (Gilmer is ranked 117th, while Cartersville is ranked 320th). As for Cass, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hiram at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
