Linden is 0-3 against the Cougars since January of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Linden Lions will head out on the road to challenge the Weston Ranch Cougars at 7:30 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Monday, Linden was able to grind out a solid victory over the Delta Kings, taking the game 54-47. The victory was just what Linden needed coming off of a 85-28 loss in their prior contest.
Meanwhile, Weston Ranch came tearing into Monday's contest with 16 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 47.9 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by Franklin on the road to the tune of 124-34. Weston Ranch has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 matches by 27 points or more this season.
Weston Ranch's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Darrion Lilly led the charge by scoring 28 points along with three steals. Lilly has been hot recently, having posted 19 or more points the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Richard Banks, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 16 assists.
Linden's win bumped their record up to 8-18. As for Weston Ranch, they pushed their record up to 23-3 with that victory, which was their seventh straight on the road.
Linden took a serious blow against the Cougars in their previous matchup back in January, falling 85-43. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Weston Ranch's Mateen Rafiq, who scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
