Red Mountain is 0-10 against Perry since December of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Red Mountain Mountain Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Perry Pumas at 5:30 p.m. Red Mountain will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while Perry is ranked second).
With a playoff game on the line, Red Mountain rose to the challenge on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Hawks. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Red Mountain.
Meanwhile, Perry had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 1 goals), and they went ahead and made it three last Thursday. They never let Chandler onto the board and left with a 2-0 victory. Give Perry's defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.
They were led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Reagan Peterson and
Raegan Hussey, who scored both of Perry's goals. The pair have combined for a total of six so far this season.
Red Mountain has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-10-2 record this season. As for Perry, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-1-4.
Red Mountain came up short against Perry in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, falling 3-1. Can Red Mountain avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
