Great Bridge is 8-2 against Deep Creek since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Wildcats will take on the Hornets at 5:45 p.m. One thing working in Great Bridge's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last five contests.
Great Bridge is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past King's Fork 15-5 on Thursday. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by seven runs or more this season.
Jensyn Koonce spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Great Bridge let Adelynn Palmer and Cara Lechowicz run wild. Palmer went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Lechowicz went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most runs Lechowicz has posted since back in April. Gabby Parker also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Great Bridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Deep Creek suffered their closest defeat since March 26, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of Ocean Lakes by a score of 11-9.
Deep Creek saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lilly B, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Another was Izzy Shollenbarger, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs.
Great Bridge has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Deep Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 11-6.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Great Bridge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .328. However, it's not like Deep Creek struggles in that department as they've averaged .359. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Great Bridge skirted past Deep Creek 2-1 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
