Ridley is 8-2 against Haverford since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Raiders will host the Fords at 3:45 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Ridley is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Lower Merion 13-12. Surprisingly, this marked the Raiders' sixth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
The team relied heavily on Jake Mansfield, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Bobby Doherty was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Ridley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Haverford waltzed into their match on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Pioneers a 2-0 shutout.
The result came thanks to Jimmy Boyle's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up 15 Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
Haverford's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Ridley, they moved to 8-11 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Ridley has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Haverford struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Ridley came up short against Haverford in their previous matchup back in April, falling 7-2. Will the Raiders have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
