Even though the Pacifica Christian/Orange County Tritons scored an imposing 58 points on Thursday, the Timberline Blazers still came out on top. Timberline narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Pacifica Christian/Orange County 61-58. The win made it back-to-back wins for Timberline.
It was another big night for Darrell Gipson, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that he pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenyon Simmons, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds.
Pacifica Christian/Orange County lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being AJ Johnson, who scored 20 points. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Michael Noel, who scored 12 points.
Timberline now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Pacifica Christian/Orange County, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.
Timberline will head out on the road to face off against Curtis at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Curtis presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Timberline in Washington (Curtis is ranked fourth, while Timberline is ranked 97th). Pacifica Christian/Orange County is on the road again on Friday and play against South Eugene at 5:30 p.m. on December 15th. South Eugene is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 68 points per game.
