Earlville and Somonauk/Leland are an even 3-3 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Earlville Red Raiders' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Somonauk/Leland Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. Hopefully Earlville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 33 on Monday.
Earlville suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Monday. They took a serious blow against Newark, falling 61-21. Earlville has struggled against Newark recently, as their contest on Monday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Earlville got a solid performance out of Madyson Olson, who scored 14 points along with two steals. That was a full 66.7% of Earlville's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Somonauk/Leland scored the most points they've had all season to find success last Saturday. They came out on top against Sandwich by a score of 56-43. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Somonauk/Leland considering their 18-point performance the contest before.
Earlville has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season. As for Somonauk/Leland, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-17.
Things could have been worse for Earlville, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 48-29 loss to Somonauk/Leland when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Can Earlville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
