The Lincoln Northeast Rockets pushed their score all the way to 62 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 84-62 walloping at the hands of Lincoln Southeast. Lincoln Northeast was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Lincoln Southeast apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Several Rockets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Grant Fredericks, who scored 15 points. Mowafag A abdalla was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Lincoln Southeast's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jake Hilkemann led the charge by scoring 18 points. Another player making a difference was Taye Moore, who scored 17 points.
Lincoln Northeast's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Lincoln Southeast, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-3.
Lincoln Northeast will head out on the road to face off against Lincoln High at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lincoln High is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home. Lincoln Southeast and Pius X will face off at 6:15 p.m. on January 11th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Pius X's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
