The Clovis Cougars will venture away from home to challenge the Arroyo Grande Eagles at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Clovis gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on Mission College Prep with a sharp 9-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.
John Kasten made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. Kasten was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run and three runs.
In other pitching news, Jackson Efird looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Deep Chohan, who went 2-for-5 with one home run and four RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Cash Scharton, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.
Clovis lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mission College Prep didn't launched any home runs.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Friday. Arroyo Grande never let Templeton get on the board and left with a 3-0 win. Arroyo Grande hasn't had any issues with Templeton recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Case Christiansen tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Linkin Whitney was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI.
Arroyo Grande's record now sits at 2-3. As for Clovis, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Clovis has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Arroyo Grande struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Clovis couldn't quite get it done against Arroyo Grande in their previous matchup back in May of 2022 as they fell 6-1. Can Clovis avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
