The Lake Worth Bullfrogs will head out to square off against the Springtown Porcupines at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Having struggled with three losses in a row, Lake Worth turned things around against Ranchview on Thursday. They came out on top against the Wolves by a score of 33-23. The score was all tied up 16-16 at the break, but the Bullfrogs were the (much) better team in the second half.
Among those leading the charge was Lucas Davis, who threw for 211 yards and a pair of TDs on only 17 passes.
Lake Worth didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Ranchview to a completion percentage of just 40%. The team can thank Maurice Hubbard for the heroic effort on defense: he. Lake Worth wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 58.8%.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Springtown). They claimed a resounding 63-36 victory over Decatur. Fans of the Porcupines have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.
Lake Worth better keep an eye on Kaine Hill. He was instrumental in Springtown's win, rushing for 186 yards and six touchdowns on only 11 carries, while also throwing for 297 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt. Hill's longest rush was for an impressive 62 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Jon Anthony Lardizabal also helped out as he racked up 152 rushing yards.
Springtown's defensive line made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. Luis Lazcano was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself. Another thorn in Decatur's side was Kasen Beaman, who picked up a sack and made 12 total tackles.
The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-8. As for Springtown, their record now sits at 10-0.
Everything came up roses for Lake Worth against Springtown in their previous matchup back in October of 2021, as the team secured a 48-19 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bullfrogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
