Two dominant backs in Hudson Winkler and Braylen Townsend are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Center Grove Trojans will head out to take on the Bloomington South Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Center Grove is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Indiana's top teams: Lawrence North, who was ranked seventh at the time (Center Grove was ranked fourth). The Trojans narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Wildcats 38-35. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Trojans have posted since September 20, 2024.

Jayden Biggerstaff had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 271 yards and one TD while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. Those 271 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Center Grove also got a significant boost from Brodie Tilton, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 85 yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Center Grove was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 363 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Center Grove didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Vinny Hayse. The game marked his first with multiple interceptions this season.
Meanwhile, Bloomington South strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They really took it to Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory for the full four quarters, racking up a 38-7 victory. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-0.
Center Grove better focus on containing Duncan Combs and Jalen Williams as the pair were huge in Bloomington South's win. Combs threw for 300 yards and four touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes, while Williams picked up 95 receiving yards and three scores. Williams was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 55 yards.
Center Grove's record is now 7-1. As for Bloomington South, their record now sits at 8-0.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Center Grove has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 258.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Bloomington South struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 182.6 rushing yards.
