Northeast Jones is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Bay 6-4. The victory continues a trend for Northeast Jones in their matchups with Bay: they've now won three in a row.
Northeast Jones let Ryne Herrington and Cruz Sullins run wild. Herrington went 2-for-3 with one home run, while Sullins went 2-for-4 with one home run. That home run marked the first that Herrington has launched this season. Carter Wiginton was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.
Meanwhile, Forrest County Agricultural won against Lamar Christian last Friday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again last Saturday. The Aggies walked away with an 8-3 win over St. Stanislaus. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Aggies.
Parks Brock and Landyn Anderson made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Brock pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Anderson tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Forrest County Agricultural is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 9-11 otherwise. At the plate, Brock went 3-for-4 with three runs and one double, while Anderson went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Those three runs gave Brock a new career-high.
In other batting news, Preston Anderson was excellent, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.
Northeast Jones' victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-7-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Forrest County Agricultural, their victory bumped their record up to 13-11.
Forrest County Agricultural's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Northeast Jones hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .335. It's a different story for Forrest County Agricultural, though, as they've only averaged .251. Will they be able to contain Northeast Jones' hitters?
