The Gulf Breeze Dolphins's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a hard 60-41 fall against Florida State University High School. While losing is never fun, Gulf Breeze can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 253rd, while Florida State University High School is ranked 89th).
Despite the loss, Gulf Breeze saw an underclassman step up: Michael Bailey scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Trent Peak, who scored seven points.
Terrell "TJ" Baker was his usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals for Florida State University High School. The contest was Baker's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amare Robinson, who scored 11 points along with three steals and three blocks.
Gulf Breeze bumped their record down to 7-6 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Florida State University High School, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-7.
Gulf Breeze and Pace will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 11th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Florida State University High School, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Godby at 7:00 p.m.
